I have heard pretty good things about Host Gator. They seem to be a pretty decent company and have a good hosting service.

What are the negatives of having them host your website? Has anyone come across anything negative about them when working with them?

Is reseller better than shared hosting? Print E-mail

Hi to all,

Can I have some opinions why reseller accounts are considered better than shared hosting accounts?

Both are the same, except that reseller manages each domain separately. Shared hosting is way much cheaper than a reseller, are there really big negatives which make them much cheaper?

If SEO and Adsense wise, there is a difference between shared and reseller, due to separate domain management in the reseller being favourable for SEO, I would go with reseller.

So far, I've done shared hosting, and using htaccess, had no problems setting up multiple sites in my shared account, which is a lot cheaper than any reseller account. Not sure how the search engines would treat my multiple sites....

Can anyone supply opinions? Are addon domains (in a shared hosting) - bad, since Cpanel actually treats them as subdomains? Many thanks!

Can anyone recommend a good host? My sites getting really popular. Print E-mail

I'm, running a facebook application, has 9,000 users and is growing at around 800-1000 a day. My site is pretty database intensive. It's currently hosted on a $7 a month shared hosting, so I obviously need something better. I'm told I should probably go with a VPS which is going to cost me $40-$75 a month (I'de need to get one that's managed). Futurehosting.biz has one for $35 a month, they were recommended to me. There just seems to be so many, not sure which one I should go with.

Any recommendations you have would be appreciated.

Has anyone ever used Yahoo to host their website? I have heard some good and more bad comments about them. I am a rookie at this so my site is going to be pretty basic. How do they rank vs. other hosting companies?

Yahoo has an “easy site creator” tool to make a site with a template like process. Do sites that use these rank as well in search engines as sites built without a template?

   Hi everyone,

I am thinking about launching a dating/social networking website and i was told that i will need a managed dedicated server package and i just want to know if anyone can recommend a company that offers a high quality reliable service like this? Price is obviously important too.

I would also like to know if countries like India offer good reliable high quality managed dedicated server packages too? Or if its better to go with a company in the United Kingdom or the USA etc?
